When I was a little girl I always dreamed of being a ballerina! I would attend my aunts ballet rehearsals and just admire the whole ensemble – the slippers, the leotard, that high sleek bun, and most importantly, the elegance that’s portrayed in the dance. I remember when I would sneak into her closet, put on a leotard, slip on her pointe shoes, and pretend I was a ballerina – dancing all around the house.

Unfortunately I never ended up having a chance to take ballet, so when I recently saw these Steve Madden MEOW Lace Up Ballet Flats, you KNOW I had to snatch that up!

Recently there has been a trend for ballerina flats, with the lace up ribbons and everything, and I’m absolutely loving it! I love that they have these to wear on a regular basis now, and gives the ‘everyday’ flats an extra somethin’ somethin.’

Miu Miu currently has some lace up ballerina flats, but they are a whopping $620 (which you can view here, here, or here)…so I’m glad that Steve Madden has these adorable blush colored MEOW ballerina flats with a more affordable price!

Before I purchased these it was difficult to find any information on them. They are available to purchase on various websites like Zappos, Lord & Taylor, Amazon, and Dillards -but only on the Nordstrom website it stated ‘Runs Small. Order Next Size Up.’ There was a review stating they purchased the flats half a size up and it fit perfect.

I’m always a size 5 (or sometimes smaller) in various types of shoes…never larger than that. Therefore I was a little hesitant to order a full size up, which would be size 6, or even a 5.5 at that. That was the only review I could find and lack of other opinions or reviews, so I decided to just order a 5.5. They didn’t have any sizes smaller than the 5.5 anyways, so I took my chances and got half a size up (I desperately wanted them!)

When I received them, I was SO relieved to find that they fit me PERFECT, like a glove. Anything bigger would have been too big, and anything smaller would have been too small! They fit like the perfect pair of flats, and very comfortable like slippers. The upper part is made of real leather, so they may stretch out with time and use, which is perfect so it would give me the slightest bit more of breathing room anyways. I highly suggest ordering these half a size up (or bigger) because they definitely do run small!

Depending on which site you purchase these from, they range anywhere from $41-$70. They come in three different colors: black, blush, or silver metallic (Mine is in Blush.) They also come with TWO sets of interchangeable ribbon ties, which I think is awesome! They come with full black ribbon, and also one called ‘gingham’ which is the black and white ribbon (shown in these photos.) It’s interesting at how much of a difference the ribbon can make to create a whole new look.

You can also tie the ribbon around your ankle once and create a large bow on the back (shown in this post), or you can tie the ribbon around your ankle/leg twice and create a more ballerina effect.

These are definitely my new pair of favorite shoes for fall! You can pair them with high waisted jeans, shorts, a skirt, dress, basically anything! You can change the ribbon or even purchase your own ribbon at a craft store to make these even more versatile and custom!

I’m never disappointed in a pair of Steve Madden shoes, so I’m so happy these fit and work out for me! They are not only cute and stylish, but comfortable as well. Highly recommended, so lets get to dancing!
