Tea Time in Pleasanton + DIY Matching Choker and Belt

TEA PARTY:

So this weekend was pretty fun! I got to be fancy and proper at a Tea Party in an actual tea room for my uncles fiancé Amanda’s bridal shower! Some of my family attended (the ladies only of course), and my mom and sister were also able to make it! We arrived at 1pm at The English Rose Tea Room in Pleasanton, CA, which is a downtown tea room with a girly vintage feel to it (it’s exactly how I would want my dream room to look)! It’s absolutely gorgeous in the tea room – floral china,  lace curtains and table cloths, girly decorations, Queen Elizabeth quotes, and even items to purchase like cards and gifts.

My sister and I sat at a table with our great grandmother, grandma, and the Maid of Honors mother. My mom, who is a bridesmaid in the wedding, sat at the table next to us with Amanda and the other bridesmaids. The tables were absolutely adorable, that of course the first thing my sister and I had to do was take photos of it! Each table was already set up with tea cups and cookies on the saucers, light pink napkins, flowers, menus, and even cups of actual sugar cubes!

The waitresses were very friendly a cute, and brought the first round of tea for us to try, which was called Peaches and Cream. I’m definitely not a tea person, and I honestly don’t drink tea unless I’m sick. My sister persuaded me that the Peaches and Cream tea was delicious, and at first taste I wasn’t having it. My sister added sugar to my cup and it did taste a lot better after that, although I still couldn’t continue to drink any tea. A waitress noticed and offered me water, which is basically the only thing I drink these days, so I of course accepted.

They allowed us to order other flavors of tea from their menu, so my sister and grandma ordered a few other flavors to try out. The waitresses then brought out stands of finger foods, which included scones, chocolate, mini cheesecakes, egg sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, cookies, and more to eat with the tea.

Next was the bridal shower games! The Maid of Honor hosted the games, and the first game she passed out to everyone was called Name That Cake. You basically had to match a cake name to each description and whoever got the most correct answers won. At first I thought they were serious descriptions (and I have no idea about the history of cakes), but soon realized they were clever descriptions and answers like: What kind of cake does a mouse eat? -Cheesecake. haha! My sister and I compared answers and were the same, so we were confident we got them all right. Unfortunately we both ended up getting two of the same ones incorrect!

The next game was a What’s In My Purse game. It was a riddle having you mark the items you had in your purse, and you would add up points for every item you had that was listed. They had items listed from screwdrivers, hairspray, to actual calculators (phones didn’t count). I believe the highest number of points you could get was 210 (and yes, someone actually got 210 points there), and I got 110 points. My sister got 65 points because she had basically left everything in her car haha.

After the games we mingled for awhile and chatted with the family and Amanda until we had to leave the tea room because they had another party attending right after us. Outside the tea room we chatted up more and my mom and I brought her car up front so we could transfer our gift to Amanda and my uncle to their car (it was a large gift).

It was nice seeing my family and my great grandma Nanay! She just turned 93 years old August 12, so all time spent with her is sacred! After we finally said our goodbyes to our family, my sister and I went to our moms house 30 minutes away. Since we only had small finger foods to eat all day and not an actual meal, we were starving! DB was there at the house and began cooking some delicious steak!! The food was absolutely amazing – steak, green beans, mushrooms, and onions. Couldn’t get any better than that! (I know this photo is probably making your mouth water now).

OUTFIT:

Since we were attending a tea party, I knew I wanted my outfit to be girly and cute. I actually found this baby blue romper (yes its a romper, not a dress) at Marshall’s, and because of the bagginess around the waist area I knew I wanted to include a belt to cinch and tie around it as a bow. I thought white would be the perfect color, and decided to go to Joann’s Fabric Store to buy a roll of white ribbon. I had originally planned on getting a plain white ribbon, but while I was browsing the shelf I found a polyester crochet lace type of ribbon roll. I instantly fell in love with the design and vintage feel to it, so I purchased that design. I cut some of the 2 yard ribbon long enough to use as a belt, then used the remainder to tie around my neck as a choker!! I thought it would be cute to match the belt and choker and I was actually very satisfied on the final result.

I felt totally like Cinderella in this outfit! I wore a black bandeau underneath because it was pretty low cut, and my Louis Vuitton Sarria mini bag was the perfect contrast against the baby blue. It was the perfect outfit to wear to the tea party, and especially in the hot weather of Pleasanton, which I was surprised about (Bay Area is getting hotter every year) !

Overall, it was a great day! I got to see family, and spend time with my mom and sister! I missed them so much and our triple trouble! It’s always fun to spend an hour trying to get the right photo with them (lol!) and come up with new memories.
