Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Fun!

Hey guys! How are you liking the new layout? I’m absolutely obsessed with the new look and I hope you are as well! It’s exactly how I imagined the modelvale feel, so I’m glad I decided to risk the change! (Sometimes risks are good 🙂 )

So this past weekend I visited the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for the first time ever! I can’t believe I’ve never been here, and it’s only two hours away from me! I have literally been everywhere else but here! My boyfriend and I decided to visit Santa Cruz for our anniversary, and I also vlogged most of the event, so be sure to watch the vlog HERE!

Driving to Santa Cruz was pretty crazy! It’s only two hours away, but ended taking about three hours to get there due to traffic. And about 20 minutes from Santa Cruz is the windy curvy roads for over 10 miles, and everyone is braking and slowing down because of it -_- (these are the times RWD cars come in handy, but unfortunately I could hardly use that option due to people braking so many times.)

Once we arrived, there was tons of traffic in the Santa Cruz streets, but the weather was breezy so we turned off the AC and put the windows down (nice change from the 100 degree weather all summer from where I live!) When we knew we were getting close to the Boardwalk, we began the difficult part: searching for parking. That gave me anxiety, because there were so many signs out saying the Boardwalk parking was full, which I had also read online noting that parking lot is always filled. We saw a man with a ‘parking’ sign standing outside of a hotel, so we entered the driveway and he allowed us to park on the property against a wall for $30. Definitely a rip off, but it was only a 5 minute walk to the Boardwalk and we did not want to keep searching for a parking. Thankfully we found him quickly and didn’t have to keep circling around the roads looking for parking.

We stepped out of the car and began to notice how chilly it was! I was wearing a Charlotte Russe off the shoulder crochet crop top with burgundy high waisted shorts and Michael Kors Flip Flops. Thankfully I came prepared and had quite a few jackets in my car (as you may have seen in my Car Tour Video how this finally came in handy haha!) I grabbed my large Victoria’s Secret tote with all my belongings I needed for the day, and it was quite heavy (I had bikinis, shorts, other sandals, water, makeup bag, etc)! Thankfully we weren’t a long walk to the Boardwalk, so I planned to walk back to the car to drop off most of the items in the bag before we began to ride some rides!

Once we reached the Boardwalk we stopped at the first food stand we found because we were starving! It was already about 3pm and we hadn’t ate anything all day. I got a cheeseburger and fries and it was surprisingly delicious! The fries were so tasty and I definitely did not see that coming. After we ate we decided to stop by the beach for awhile. We took some photos and enjoyed the scenery and ate churros!

We had the Costco ticket deal, which is unlimited rides and two $15 arcade cards for $65. We went to the ticket booth to retrieve our wristbands, then walked back to the car to put some stuff away. When we came back we began to look for rides! My sister recommended the Giant Dipper ride, so we rode that one first. It was pretty scary but fun! Lots of drops (my stommmacchhh!!!) but it didn’t go upside down which I liked.

We walked around more and went into some of the souvenir shops. I really wanted a Santa Cruz shirt or sweater but unfortunately didn’t find any that I liked. The Boardwalk was also extremely packed, like so packed you could barely walk ;\ Once we finally got through the crowd we went on the zip line, which doesn’t seem exciting but it was actually pretty scary! I was excited when we got to sit in the pink seat, because I was hoping we would get the pink one and what are the odds we did! When we sat down and began being lifted into the air, it was so high and I’m afraid of heights! It was windy and cold being that high, and every shake and rattle made me soooo nervous! It was a nice view of the beach and boardwalk though, so it was nice to get some camera shots of that!

When we got off that ride (finally, lol), we decided to walk towards the Santa Cruz Wharf. I had been eyeing the wharf the entire day, and wondering how we went about going there. We just walked towards it and eventually found the entrance and walked the wharf. Halfway through we found the seals! Honestly, we kept saying seals and otters, but now that I googled what they were I believe they were Sea Lions. They ‘barked’ loud and funny and they were splashing in the water then flipping onto the dock. There were a couple of scuba divers next to them as well (which Joseph kept saying, ‘Look, its scuba steve’ LMAO, let me know if you got that Big Daddy reference!)

We had a nice sunset out on the wharf, and on our way back we stopped at a pizza joint because we were beginning to get hungry. We ordered a bbq chicken pizza but unfortunately the pizza wasn’t that great. It was the thin kind of pizza, when I like fluffy crusted pizza. After we ate we finally hit up the large arcade building the Boardwalk has. We got some Dippin Dots ice cream and Joseph played many games and tried to win me so many stuffed animals with the claw games, but you know how much those are rip offs!

It was about 9pm when we decided to call it a day. We were extremely tired but had a fun day! Santa Cruz is absolutely beautiful, and I think I would love living by a beach!
